PRESIDENT'S L ETTER – DENISE HOWE
Hinsdale Junior Woman's Club is a philanthropic community organization whose
members live in the suburbs surrounding Hinsdale, Illinois. For over 60 years,
HJWC has enriched our community, the lives of our members and their families.
With a membership of over 120 women, HJWC contributes significantly to the
organizations we support through both fundraising efforts and hands-on service
projects.
Every two years a careful selection process takes place to find a new philanthropic
organization that fits with the HJWC mission. This year (2011-2012) marks the
second and final year of our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities
of Chicagoland and NW Indiana (RMHC-CNI). The proceeds raised at our annual
benefit will be dedicated to helping build the Ronald McDonald Family Room
(RMFR) at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. This 1800 square foot facility
will include three bedrooms, a kitchenette, a computer resource center and a
playroom. Parents and families who have a sick child being cared for at Edward
Hospital will soon have a comfortable resting place, just steps away. We are very
excited about this unique and meaningful project.
HJWC supports various other community organizations. We collect art supplies
for local charities, host the Fireman Open House, plan a TLC Camp for cancer
patients and sponsor “Gift of the Season” for Hinsdale Community Services.
HJWC also grants a $2000 scholarship to a graduating female high school student
who exemplifies “service.” These are just a handful ways that we help in our
neighborhood.
The time and dedication that our members put into this Club sets a positive
example to others in our community. The spirit of giving within the Hinsdale
Junior Woman’s Club is strong. Our Members support each other through love
and friendship - then we pay it forward by serving others. We are constantly
reminded that it only takes one person to make a difference.
Thank you for visiting this website. Please feel free to contact me if you have any
questions and would like to help support our fundraising efforts.
Sincerely,
Denise Howe
President of HJWC
